Short version
There is no account and no cookies. We count visits anonymously so we can see how many people use the site. Your progress, times and streak stay in your own browser.
Visit counting
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It does not set cookies, does not use local storage for tracking and does not build a profile of you. We only see totals, such as how many visits a page had and which countries visits came from.
What is stored in your browser
- Puzzle progress for the daily cryptogram, the cryptoquote and archive puzzles, so you can come back later.
- Stats: puzzles played and solved, streak and times.
- Your chosen level and best times in free play.
- Cookie notice: when you press OK, we store that choice so the notice does not come back.
This is saved in your browser’s local storage on your own device and is not sent to us. You can remove it by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings.
Teacher page
Text you type on the teacher page stays in your browser. If you copy a share link, the text is inside that link, so anyone you give the link to can see it.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver the pages and protect against attacks. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
